 SCIFI Membership  Meeting October 9, 2019 @ Doc's BBQ 1601 Shop Rd. Columbia, SC 11:00AM-1:30PM

The SCIFI has proudly served the SIU community in South Carolina for 22 years, but the SIU industry is changing rapidly every year. With the industry changes in recent years and the fact of also having a local South Carolina Chapter of IASIU, it has become more difficult to efficiently maintain two functioning organizations with a similar mission for SIU in the State of South Carolina.

The 2019 SCIFI Officers and Board Members took a difficult look at the future of SCIFI beyond this year. There’s no easy way to say it, but the time has come for the entire voting membership to review and discuss the option to dissolve SCIFI at the end of 2019.

SCIFI Officers and Board Members have scheduled a membership meeting for October, 9TH 2019 at Doc’s BBQ located at 1601 Shop Road in Columbia, SC. 29201. The time for this membership meeting will be 11:00 am- 1:30 pm, with lunch paid by SCIFI.

The purpose of this membership meeting is to discuss the future of SCIFI beyond 2019. At this meeting the Officers, Board Members and the entire SCIFI membership will have an open membership discussion on the option to dissolve SCIFI effective December 31st,

A vote will occur at this meeting and a two-thirds vote of the members present at the meeting would be needed to dissolve this organization. A conference line would be made available on the meeting date for those members that cannot attend in person. However, in order to vote, our by-laws state you must vote “in person”The call in number is 1-415-655-0003 Access Code: 808 735 686.

Many of the SCIFI Membership (SIU Investigators and law enforcement) are currently active members of the South Carolina Chapter of IASIU.  We strongly encourage you to become a member of South Carolina Chapter of IASIU, if not a member already.  With regular meetings you can feel comfortable knowing that the training and networking opportunities will continue under the South Carolina Chapter of IASIU, if the membership votes are obtained dissolving the SCIFI organization effective December 31st, 2019.

Plan for dissolution should the Members vote in favor of;

1) It is the stated desire to dissolve the corporation  as of December 31, 2019;

(2) All debts and obligations of the corporation should be satisfied in the winding up process; and

(3) Any assets still remaining after this procedure is completed should be transferred to the membership, per the requirements of your articles of incorporation.
