My Fellow SCIFI Members,
Our first 6 months are behind us and our Association is going strong. We have 165 active members and still adding new ones. We have had 2 training sessions and have 2 more training sessions scheduled in the coming months. See the News and Events Section for the dates and specifics. You don’t want to miss either one. We expanded our training sessions to four this year to give everyone more training opportunities. I want to thank Terry Rhodes who coordinated our quarterly training this year.
I am pleased to announce that the Board has approved a new venue for the Annual Conference which is scheduled for November 2 – 4, 2016. The Conference will be held at the Beach Cove Resort in North Myrtle Beach, SC. It is a great location for the conference and with everything in one building it will be much more convenient. A conference brochure will be emailed out in the near future with a full schedule of training for the conference that has something for everyone. So put those dates on your calendar now. I want to thank Grace Rentiers our Site Coordinator for her hard work in putting this move to a new location together for us. Also a big thank you to Nick Strobel and Michael Stalb who are responsible for our conference training agenda this year. A great job by all three of them.
Also, Pat O’Hara of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office is putting the final touches on a new scholarship program SCIFI is offering to assist selected law enforcement officers to attend the Conference. That information will be released very soon. Pat is also heading up the Investigator of the Year Award this year so if you have a nominee please submit the award nomination or contact Pat.
And one more thing to think about before the Conference. We will be electing officers and board members for 2017 at the Conference. It is great opportunity for you to serve and keep this Association strong and growing so step up and volunteer. If you are interested in serving next year please contact me directly.
Thank you all for your support of SCIFI. I look forward to seeing all of you at a training session and especially at the Conference. The Conference is always a great opportunity to learn and to have the opportunity to spend some time together with old friends and to make new ones.
See you in North Myrtle Beach,
